**Job Specialty:** Progressive Intermediate Step Down PCU
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour day shift, 3x12 Hr
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 per week
**Experience:** Minimum of one year preferred
**License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC)
**Certifications:** American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
**Must-Have:** Patient care skills, EPIC experience
**Job Description:**
- Assume responsibility for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet patient needs.
- Promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of patients using the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes.
- Demonstrate competency in therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
- Advocate for and collaborate on patient health, safety, and rights.
- Provide patient and family education based on assessments, and evaluate teaching effectiveness.
- Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and diversity.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel per state board of nursing and hospital policy.
- Effectively use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies for quality, cost-effective care.
- Serve as a professional role model demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow, aligning competencies with patient and unit needs.
- Follow standards of care, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Work within nursing and inter-professional teams to foster communication, respect, and shared decision-making.
- Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Pursue learning opportunities and continue education for skill and competence maintenance.
- Maintain professional records showing evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional standards and regulations.
- Act on objectives from evaluation processes.
- Commit to the organization through participation in hospital and unit meetings.
- Understand the significance of continuous quality improvement data.
- Use quality measures to enhance performance and accountability for patient outcomes.
- Engage in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Utilize current healthcare research findings to expand clinical knowledge and improve patient care.
