What to Expect Tesla is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer to select and develop new equipment and processes for energy products at massive scale. In this role, you will drive technical decisions for the next generation of manufacturing equipment and process design for energy products at Tesla. This role is core to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Tesla is a demanding and fast‑paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects. What You'll Do Evaluate manufacturing technology paths for semiconductor and solar manufacturing equipment Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Reliability (DFR) input to product designers Guide cross‑functional down‑selection of optimal applied process strategy, technology, and product interface definitions Rigorous process and equipment development to achieve capability, performance, and quality targets Process validation and optimization from initial prototype builds through release to full‑scale production Drive proof‑of‑concept to greenlight new and novel methods, technologies, and suppliers Evolve the manufacturing knowledge base through experiments, standards, and benchmarking What You'll Bring Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or equivalent experience 10+ years of semiconductor manufacturing engineering or equivalent relevant experience Experience developing and implementing processes and/or tools used in high‑volume semiconductor production Proficiency in experimental design and process development Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally Compensation and Benefits Benefits Aetna PPO and HSA plans – 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family‑building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans – options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company paid Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution when enrolled in the high deductible Aetna medical plan with HSA Healthcare and dependent care flexible spending accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, employee stock purchase plans, and other financial benefits Company paid basic life, AD&D, short‑term and long‑term disability insurance Employee assistance program Sick and vacation time (flexible time for salary positions), and paid holidays Back‑up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits – critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight loss and tobacco cessation programs Tesla babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $132,000 – $240,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits.
