Accounts Payable Specialist

Overview BHPS has a great opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join the Finance Team. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Accountant will be responsible for accounts payable operations end-to-end and assisting with the financial close process, including performing analysis and reconciliations, as well as other ad hoc accounting requests. Base pay range $60,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr Location: Westbury, NY Schedule: Full Time, On-Site, Mon-Fri About The Role BHPS has a great opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join the Finance Team. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Accountant will be responsible for accounts payable operations end-to-end and assisting with the financial close process, including performing analysis and reconciliations, as well as other ad hoc accounting requests. Responsibilities Process all vendor payments ensuring they are paid accurately, timely and properly accounted for in the general ledger. Review approved invoices against POs and contracts to ensure accuracy and consistency. Review employee expense reports, obtain approvals and ensure expenses are paid in accordance with company policy. Own broker payment process and enforce company policies around the process. Review all broker contracts (pass through arrangements) and ensure agreements are properly billed, recorded in the general ledger and payments processed. Execute the running of “pay when paid” model with the AR Supervisor to capture all current accounting data needed to process accurate monthly payments. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between billing and pass thru items. Post ACH and wire activity to the general ledger. Ensure vendor listing in DAX is maintained and updated to support 1099 reporting. Assist with tax filings, 1099s and all other ad hoc tax requirements. Process stop payments ensuring payments are reversed in the ledger and bank. Own process of Credit Balance and Subrogation Recoveries ensuring all recoveries received are processed by claims department and then appropriately accounted for and returned to clients. Assist Director of Accounting with monthly financial close, including development of accruals and maintenance of balance sheet/ expense trending reports. Complete balance sheet reconciliations. Assist with external audit as needed. Serve as a back-up for other accounting functions as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. 5+ years of experience in an accounting function. Experience in Accounts Payable preferred. Strong knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel required. Solid understanding of basic principles of accounting and bookkeeping. Strong attention to detail and time management. Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Great attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and interpersonal skills that encourage teamwork. Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Dynamics AX (DAX), Word, and Outlook preferred.
