**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours per Week
**Experience:** Minimum 1 Year of Experience Required; 1-2 Years of Critical Care Experience Preferred
**License:** Required for Submission
**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
**Must-Have:** ICU Skill Set, Experience with Bipap, Cpap, Mechanical Ventilation, Telemetry, Critical Drips, Post Cardiac Cath Care; CRRT and IABP Preferred
**Job Description:**
- Provide care for patients in a PCU/Stepdown environment with a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio.
- Handle common diagnoses including post-op vascular, hemodynamically stable cardiac dysrhythmias, CVA, sepsis, renal conditions, stable acute MI, unstable angina, post-cardiac cath with PCTA or significant blockage.
- Required to float to ICU or Stepdown units and Emergency Department for boarded PCU or ICU patients if not needed in primary unit.
- RNs will titrate drips such as Insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone, and low-dose Dopamine.
- Support from a Charge Nurse in ICU as a resource for PCU, with a House Supervisor available 24/7.
- Collaborate with nurse aides, with one PCT for every 10 patients, assisting with general care and unit clerk duties when needed.
- Expertise required in dealing with RT equipment including Cpap, Bipap, high flow O2, mechanical ventilation via tracheostomy, specialty beds, and IV pumps.
- Utilize tele monitoring, with a Monitor Tech available 24/7; RNs are responsible for reading strips.
- Adhere to the dress code of navy scrubs for RNs/LPNs and dark grey/pewter for Techs; solid color, matching undershirts and closed-toed shoes are required.
- Participate in an orientation process including a day of general hospital orientation, a full day of nursing orientation, required computer training, and two 12-hour orientation shifts with a preceptor.
- Comply with a cancellation policy allowing (2) shifts per 13-week assignments or greater, and (1) shift for assignments less than 13 weeks.
- Familiarity with charting systems such as Meditech and EPIC is necessary.
