We are currently seeking a Senior Test Engineer. This position is located in Arlington, VA.

Job Summary

Battelle’s Critical Infrastructure Business Line group is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to lead the research, development, test and evaluation of security systems and technology for the Department of Homeland Security. This is a full-time position, and the selected candidate will work in Battelle’s Crystal City Operations in Arlington, Virginia.

Work is performed both in the laboratory and field settings. The selected candidate is required to interact directly with the client on a regular basis and should have strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
Leading Test Engineers in test planning, conduct test execution methodology, data collection/reduction/analysis, and technical report writing.
Technical areas applicable include non-intrusive inspection and associated scientific disciplines, physical security applications, command and control integration, human factors, operations research, statistics, and engineering.
Train and provide day to day direction to lower-level staff to help improve technical development and innovative processes.
Conduct engineering design reviews, and engaging representatives of Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and working directly with vendors and stakeholders in enhancing technologies and capabilities in developmental lifecycle support.
Test and Evaluation experience and understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
Opportunity to participate in scientific conferences, support and/or lead technical proposal development, and generating white papers for further research opportunities.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline with 5 years of experience or Master’s Degree in a technical discipline with 2 years of experience or PhD; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
The selected candidate must be a self-starter and a team player.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent computer skills including expertise in the use of applicable Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Must be able to travel. Travel is expected to be up to 25%.
Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and TSA Suitability.
Must be U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree or PhD in Engineering
Experience in the test and evaluation of Transportation Security Equipment (TSE).
Experience applying statistics to analyze and report test results.
Experience in formulating design of experimental methods
Experience designing and/or implementing data collection hardware and techniques.
Active Secret Clearance.
Active TSA Suitability.
