The reason for locum coverage is a recruitment gap. The team comprises one full-time midlevel provider, two PRN providers, and four full-time physicians. The average patient volume per day is 54. The emergency department has 18 beds. The current electronic health record system in use is Cerner. Approximately 90% of total hospital admissions originate from the emergency department. On average, 8% of emergency department patients are admitted to the hospital daily. About 2% of emergency department patients are transferred each day. The emergency department is designated as provisional level 4 in trauma care. The annual volume of cases in the emergency room is around 20,000. There is no Fast Track system in the emergency department. Emergency department staff respond to house codes while also having hospitalists assist during emergencies. The hospital provides anesthesia support during the day. Hospitalists typically handle admission orders, with limited bridging orders from emergency physicians if necessary. Referrals to specialty services are coordinated primarily with nearby hospitals. The emergency department monitors and supervises paramedics and ambulances by radio. Consultation with cardiologists is available for interpreting EKGs. Blood bank services are certified, and laboratory services are available 24 hours. Surgical services are accessible around the clock.
