Overview Job Title (Internal): Associate Director of the Faculty-Led Living-Learning Community (FL-LLC) Programs Campus: Columbia Department: SAAS Housing Advertised Job Summary Associate Director of the Faculty-Led Living-Learning Community Programs The Associate Director supports the management and coordination of the Faculty-Led Living-Learning Community (FL-LLC) Programs at the University of South Carolina. The Associate Director assists with daily operations, program administration, and student engagement initiatives designed to advance academic success, retention, and inclusive excellence through residential learning communities. This role works closely with faculty, staff, and campus partners to implement policies, programs, and practices that enhance student success. The Associate Director contributes to training, assessment, and communication efforts, while supporting innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the FL-LLC program. Responsibilities Primary Duties Provide leadership to the FL-LLC Program, ensuring alignment with institutional goals for retention, engagement, and academic success. Supervise and evaluate professional staff, including program coordinators and administrative support personnel. Serve as administrative supervisor for Program Leads, with dotted-line coordination of Faculty Directors. Manage daily operations of the FL-LLC program, including procurement, human resources, student hiring, in coordination with Shared Services. Manage housing assignments in conjunction with LLC assignments. Lead faculty recruitment efforts for any LLC Faculty Associate Program. Design and implement comprehensive training and onboarding for new Faculty Directors and Program Leads. Serve as primary liaison to campus partners including University Housing, Admissions, Education Abroad, University 101, the Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning (CIEL), Office of Undergraduate Research, and others. Other Duties (as outlined) Strategic Leadership & Supervision: provide leadership to the FL-LLC Program and oversee staff performance planning and evaluation processes. Administrative and Operational Oversight: oversee procurement, HR, student hiring, housing assignments, and related program logistics; coordinate with campus partners. Training & Development: design and deliver training and onboarding; maintain resource materials; plan professional development events. Assessment and Reporting: lead annual assessment and reporting; maintain data dashboards and KPI reporting. Campus Partnerships and External Relations: liaise with campus partners; advocate for the FL-LLC program in university planning. Marketing and Social Media Strategy: collaborate on highlighting student success and initiatives; align with branding standards. Special Projects and Other Duties: contribute to divisional initiatives and represent the division on committees. Qualifications Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 5 or more years of related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in higher education or related field Seven years of full-time experience Demonstrated success in strategic planning, program development, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration Experience and understanding of student learning and living-learning programs (LLC) Understanding of University Housing operations Familiarity with University Housing operations and university systems such as PeopleSoft (HR and Finance), StarRez, Garnet Gate, and Blackboard Strong understanding of assessment methodologies and data-informed decision-making Experience developing collaborative relationships with faculty and administrative stakeholders Proficiency in content creation and promotion through institutional and social media platforms Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of student development theory and the integration of academic and residential experiences Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty and senior administrators Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and the promotion of equitable learning environments Hours and Work Essential Function: Yes Percentage Of Time: 25% Other Details Job Duty: Administrative and Operational Oversight Manage daily operations of the FL-LLC program, including procurement, human resources, student hiring, in coordination with Shared Services Manage housing assignments in conjunction with LLC assignments Lead faculty recruitment efforts for any LLC Faculty Associate Program Coordinate linked coursework and program logistics with campus partners Maintain and update the FL-LLC Microsoft Teams platform Support recruitment and engagement events (Orientation, Admitted Student Days, Fall Visitation) Arrange and facilitate strategic leadership meetings with Program Leads Job Duty: Training & Development Design and implement training and onboarding for new Faculty Directors and Program Leads Maintain and update resource manuals, websites, and onboarding materials Coordinate planning and execution of annual retreats, professional development workshops, and mentoring programs Serve as primary facilitator for training on university systems, procedures, and partnership initiatives Job Duty: Assessment and Reporting Lead the development and submission of the annual assessment report and blueprint for the FL- LLC program Maintain data dashboards and ensure accurate reporting of KPIs (e.g., GPA and retention) Review and summarize Blueprint reports; provide data-informed insights for improvements Collaborate with the Director of Assessment in University Housing to analyze data and communicate outcomes Job Duty: Campus Partnerships and External Relations Serve as primary liaison to campus partners including University Housing, Admissions, Education Abroad, University 101, CIEL, and Office of Undergraduate Research Advocate for the FL-LLC program in university planning and interdepartmental initiatives Represent the program in university communications, external reports, and national conferences as appropriate Job Duty: Marketing and Social Media Strategy Collaborate with the Office of Communications and Admissions to highlight student success stories and initiatives Oversee digital storytelling and ensure alignment with branding standards Job Duty: Special Projects and Other Duties Contribute to divisional initiatives and represent the division on committees or task forces Benefits and Additional Details Location: Columbia, SC; Full Time; Hours per Week: 37.5 Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; flexible schedule to meet department needs USC Market Range: M08 - $59,581 to $89,371; Anticipated Hiring Range: $59,581 - $74,477 Other Required Information Open Date: 12/23/2025 Job Close Date: 02/28/2026 Open Until Filled: No Special Instructions to Applicant: Applications accepted by February 28, 2026.
