Adelphi is seeking a licensed and experienced Medical Director to provide comprehensive correctional healthcare leadership in Whatcom County, Washington State. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in correctional or public health medicine, demonstrated administrative leadership, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with nationally recognized correctional healthcare standards.Job Quick Facts• Ref#: BD- • Profession: Physician• Specialty: Medical Director Correctional Healthcare• Job Type: Contract• Location: Whatcom County, Washington State• Coverage Type: Onsite• Service Setting: Correctional Facility• Facility Type: County Jail• Shift Schedule: Part-time (approximately 8 10 hrs/week or as needed)• Compensation: TBDRequirements• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution• Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or a related specialty• Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Washington State• Valid DEA registration and NPI number• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in correctional, public health, or underserved settings• Demonstrated experience in medical administration or clinical leadership• Familiarity with NCCHC and WASPC accreditation standards• Ability to pass comprehensive background checks and drug screeningResponsibilities• Provide clinical oversight and medical leadership for healthcare services within the correctional setting.• Ensure compliance with NCCHC, WASPC, and applicable local, state, and federal healthcare standards.• Supervise and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare staff, including nurses, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.• Develop, implement, and regularly review evidence-based medical policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.• Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts in patient care delivery.• Review and provide guidance on complex medical cases, including deaths in custody.• Oversee infection control measures, chronic care management, and medication administration practices.• Participate in administrative meetings, audits, and long-term strategic planning.• Serve as a liaison for clinical communication and coordination among internal staff and external stakeholders.
