Faculty Responsibilities In addition to teaching and scholarship, faculty are expected to engage in service to the University, profession, and community. Responsibilities include advising students, participating in campus and system‑wide communities, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively with colleagues, and participating in traditional academic functions. Faculty are expected to foster the CSU Graduation Initiative 2025 through excellent teaching, advising, and mentoring. New appointments are not eligible for tenure. Faculty must work effectively in a multicultural environment. The School The School of Nursing and Health Sciences is a top‑10 nursing program in the country, fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the California State Board of Registered Nursing. It offers a pre‑licensure BSN, post‑licensure BSN, and MSN‑Family Nurse Practitioner programs, with a new Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program in development. Courses and descriptions are available on the Nursing website and in the SSU course catalog. The School’s core values are: Integrity, Love, Equity, Accountability, Courage, and Reflexivity. Duties of the Position The selected faculty member will teach in the MSN‑Family Nurse Practitioner program, the undergraduate BSN program, or both, with a preferred clinical emphasis on Psych/Mental Health. Experience in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online modalities is desired. The candidate will teach and direct didactic and clinical courses, use Canvas and other learning management systems, evaluate students, and engage in curriculum development. Scholarship that reflects a particular research focus and area of interest is required. The faculty member will also provide academic advising, assist with program assessment, serve on committees, and maintain accreditation and BRN regulations. The successful candidate will contribute to a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive environment and share SSU’s commitment to ethical exploration, civic engagement, social responsibility, and global awareness. Rank and Salary Assistant: $95,000 – $103,956Associate: $108,000 – $113,172New appointments are not eligible for tenure. Undergraduate program applicants must meet clinical recency requirements for at least one BRN content area (e.g., psych/mental health, medical/surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics/maternal child, geriatrics). Preferred Qualifications Clinical currency in Psych/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who can teach in both BSN and MSN programs Simulation education experience Employment Requirements Only individuals authorized to work in the United States may apply.
