UA Manager

UA Manager – Middle Market Zurich Insurance Zurich North America is hiring an experienced UA Manager – Middle Market to join our Middle Market team in Atlanta. This hybrid role requires office presence 3 days a week, with flexible scheduling supported by the team. As a member of Zurich’s Underwriting team, you will apply and hone leadership and strategic thinking skills. Responsibilities Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals. Assess and evaluate underwriting processes to implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, maintaining underwriting disciplines and identifying opportunities for improvement. Follow up regularly with producers to discuss status of new business, upcoming renewals, and renewals in process, and develop appropriate action. Perform customer service and account management responsibilities, including resolving billing issues, making policy changes and answering coverage questions. Participate in key account business relationships in person or via teleconference with Underwriters. Conduct regular performance evaluations, ensuring staff meet performance standards based on key operational metrics, staffing models and growth goals, and conduct career development conversations. Make staffing decisions concerning hiring and guide staff development, identifying skills and training needs, delegating tasks appropriately and motivating staff for outstanding client service. Build insurance operations and underwriting skills by participating in cross‑training and learning additional processes to support multiple workflows. Build strong relationships across the business and take a leadership role in Underwriting team huddles and meetings. Assist in onboarding and training new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters. Act as subject‑matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and operational performance.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in insurance, underwriting or market‑facing area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 4+ years of experience in insurance, underwriting or market‑facing area. High School Diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of experience in insurance, underwriting or market‑facing area. Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Insurance certifications. People‑management experience. Experience in a production and metrics performance environment. Knowledge of operational budgets. Knowledge of international insurance programs. Compensation The base salary range for this position is $74,300.00 – $121,700.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 10%.
