VP of Environmental, Health and Safety F-o-r-t-u-n-e Personnel Consultants of Troy (FPC-Troy) Atlanta Metropolitan Area (On-site) Vice President of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Location: Southeast U.S. Multi-site Hands on Leadership Role Position Overview A leading North American manufacturing organization is seeking a Vice President of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) to provide enterprise-wide strategic and operational leadership across its multi-site manufacturing and distribution network. This executive role is responsible for driving world-class environmental compliance, occupational safety, and process safety performance within high-hazard, chemical-based operations. The Vice President of EHS will lead the development and execution of a forward-thinking, risk-based strategy that protects employees, communities, and the environment while supporting operational excellence and business performance. The ideal leader brings deep expertise in Process Safety Management (PSM), chemical manufacturing operations, and regulatory compliance within highly regulated environments. Enterprise Strategy & Operations Lead and execute a company-wide EHS and Process Safety strategy focused on regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement. Establish and govern a robust Process Safety Management (PSM) framework for covered chemical processes including oxidizers, reactive chemicals, compressed gases, and chemical blending operations. Drive consistent implementation of PSM core elements including: Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) Management of Change (MOC) Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) Mechanical Integrity (MI) Provide EHS leadership and due diligence oversight for mergers, acquisitions, and capital expansion projects, including Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments. Develop and oversee enterprise risk assessment and hazard identification programs focused on catastrophic risk prevention. Capital projects Build meaningful leading and lagging indicators, dashboards, and analytics to drive performance and accountability. Lead structured monthly and quarterly performance reviews with plant, operations, and executive leadership. Establish annual safety, environmental, and process safety improvement goals aligned with business objectives. Serve as a key subject matter expert within the organization’s Incident Command Structure. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure full compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including: OSHA PSM EPA RMP Clean Air Act RCRA TSCA DOT Lead environmental programs covering: Air and water permitting Hazardous waste management Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) Oversee internal, third-party, and regulatory audits with strong corrective action governance. Lead emergency preparedness and response programs for: Chemical releases Fires Process upsets Ensure accurate internal and regulatory reporting of emissions, waste, and compliance performance. Serve as primary corporate liaison to regulatory agencies. Partner closely with Risk Management and Insurance teams to address audit findings and reduce exposure. Collaborate with Legal on regulatory interpretation, enforcement actions, and acquisition-related compliance. Safety Culture & Organizational Leadership Champion a safety-first, process-safety-driven culture across all operations. Lead transformation from compliance-based behaviors to proactive risk management and human performance excellence. Establish strong accountability, transparency, and learning systems throughout the organization. Enforce zero tolerance for: Unsafe acts Process safety deviations Environmental noncompliance Promote enterprise-wide collaboration to ensure consistent EHS standards across all locations. Talent Development & Leadership Succession Build and develop a high-performing EHS leadership team capable of supporting complex chemical operations. Coach and mentor EHS leaders in: Process safety Environmental compliance Emergency response Hazardous materials management Behavioral safety and human performance Establish clear performance expectations with measurable outcomes. Develop internal successors and technical experts to ensure long-term sustainability of EHS leadership. Financial Stewardship & Business Impact Reduce incidents, regulatory costs, and insurance exposure through strong prevention strategies. Implement cost-effective environmental and waste management programs aligned with sustainability objectives. Identify EHS-driven operational efficiencies tied to: Process reliability Reduced downtime Energy optimization Manage departmental operating budgets and EHS-related capital spending responsibly. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required (Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene preferred). 10+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience. Minimum 5 years in high-hazard or chemical manufacturing environments strongly preferred. Proven expertise in: OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) EPA Risk Management Plans (RMP) Demonstrated success leading multi-site EHS programs. Working knowledge of: Workers’ Compensation Corporate Risk Management Mergers & Acquisitions environmental due diligence Deep understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regulatory frameworks. Strong knowledge of Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) principles. Exceptional executive communication and influencing skills. Track record of building strong partnerships with Operations, Engineering, and Executive Leadership. Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems preferred.
