Description Industry: Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Role Overview As a Full Stack Mobile Engineer on our EFB team, you won't just build "apps"—you will build mission‑critical flight deck tools. You will own the entire lifecycle of features that pilots rely on for safety and navigation. Requirements Technical Requirements Rust Expertise: Deep understanding of ownership, borrowing, and the FFI (Foreign Function Interface) for integrating Rust into mobile apps. Systems Foundations: Strong proficiency in Modern C++ and experience maintaining legacy Objective‑C codebases. Mobile UI: Experience building high‑reliability iOS applications using Swift and cross‑platform tools using C#. Performance Optimization: Proven ability to profile code for CPU, memory, and battery usage – critical for pilots in high‑workload cockpit environments. Engineering Rigor: Familiarity with Git‑based workflows, code reviews, and maintaining high test coverage for safety‑critical software. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) development or aviation software certification (e.g., DO‑178C). Experience with WebAssembly (Wasm) for potential future expansion of flight tools to browser‑based environments. Background in geospatial mathematics (WGS‑84 coordinate systems) and 2D/3D rendering engines. Job responsibilities Key Responsibilities Safety-Critical Systems: Lead the migration of mission‑critical navigation and calculation modules from C++ to Rust to eliminate memory‑related vulnerabilities. Full Stack Mobile Delivery: Develop and maintain the EFB's "vertical" feature set, ensuring high-performance data flow between the native core and the Swift/C# user interfaces. Polyglot Integration: Manage complex interoperability between Rust (via UniFFI or C‑headers), Objective‑C/Swift, and C# environments. Aviation Data Processing: Implement real‑time parsing of aviation‑specific protocols (ARINC 429, GDL 90) and weather data (GRIB/METAR) using Rust's high-performance ecosystem. GitHub‑Driven DevOps: Ownership of the full lifecycle within GitHub, utilizing GitHub Actions for cross‑platform compilation (Cargo, CMake, xcodebuild) and automated safety audits.
