Job Description We are searching for an Anesthesia Technician I — someone who works well in a fast‑paced setting. In this position, you will assist licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for anesthesia administration. In this role, you contribute to safe and efficient anesthesia care, providing support to anesthesia in routine and complex surgical cases, and preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during, and after anesthesia. Job Duties & Responsibilities Perform and/or assist with procedures: assist anesthesiologist with preparation and placement of neurophysiologic monitors, induction, intubation, and maintenance of patient’s airway; assist with insertion of IVs and invasive lines; anticipate anesthesiologist’s needs during invasive monitoring and procedures such as arterial access, central venous access, fiberoptic intubation or difficult airway; provide support to the patient care team throughout the case; perform salvaged blood processing per protocol; assist with volume infusions during intra‑operative procedures. Prepare and set up equipment: prepare age‑appropriate anesthesia equipment, monitors and airway; prepare IV, arterial line, fluid/blood warmer and CVP setups; assemble transducer lines and equipment for invasive monitoring; prepare equipment for fiber‑optic intubation; troubleshoot and correct equipment problems; perform complete standard anesthesia apparatus checkout; assist with maintaining and evaluating anesthesia‑related equipment; evaluate, prepare and set up equipment used for out‑of‑department anesthesia procedures. Conduct other patient‑related procedures: set up, maintain and transport specialty devices; transport patients from monitored beds to OR; troubleshoot and correct monitoring equipment problems; respond immediately to OR room calls needing supplies, pharmaceuticals, blood products or other items; assist in preparation and draping of patient invasive monitoring/procedures; clean room and restock anesthesia machine before patient enters; stock operating rooms, specialty carts, anesthesia carts, equipment rooms and remote anesthesia areas with disposable/reusable supplies. Supervise the maintenance of anesthesia equipment: inventory and stock anesthesia supplies; maintain inventory of functioning equipment; organize, clean and maintain shelves and drawers; retrieve and inspect equipment; maintain sterile supplies within expiration date. Complete respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards. Skills & Requirements H.S. Diploma or GED Preferred Licenses/Certifications BLS – Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association CER‑A‑T – Certified Anesthesia Technician by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists (ASATT) Technical Diploma – completion of an approved anesthesia technician training program Required: 1 year hospital environment experience (or an ASATT certification can substitute for the 1‑year experience) About the Company Texas Children’s Hospital #J-18808-Ljbffr
