Job Description AECOM is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to serve as a technical advisor on transportation projects for our New York Metro Transportation group, including NYC, Bloomfield, NJ, and Piscataway, NJ offices. Responsibilities Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction documents. Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impacts on design and construction. Provide guidance to entry‑level engineers. Perform work in accordance with agreed‑upon budget and schedule with little supervision. Independently complete primary design elements for engineering works. Prepare subsurface exploration programs, laboratory assignments, and geotechnical reports. Conduct geotechnical investigations and construction inspections. Lead and manage geotechnical engineering investigations. Perform pile analysis, slope stability, settlement analysis, ground improvements, and seepage analysis. Utilize software such as APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SEEPW, SLOPEW, and GRLWEAP. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural engineers, architects, and environmental specialists. Develop and implement quality control procedures for geotechnical projects. Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements and findings. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to team members. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field plus four years of related experience and/or education, or equivalent. Valid U.S. driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications NY and NJ Professional Engineer license highly preferred or ability to obtain within a year. Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Five years of related work experience preferable. Experience with NYSDOT and NJDOT. Ability to lead/manage geotechnical investigations. Experience with construction inspection of foundation elements. Experience with pile analysis, slope stability, and seepage analysis. Additional Information Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future. Relocation is not available for this position. Compensation Offered rate based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Salary range: $115,000 to $130,000 per year.
