Title: Director, Flight Safety Position Type: Fulltime Staff Search Type: External - minimum 7 days Department: 25R000 - Justice, Safety & Military Science Division: 2R0000 - Academic Affairs Position Location: Richmond Campus Driver Classification: Non-Driver FLSA: Exempt Schedule Type: Full Time (37.5 hrs per week or more) Hours Per Week: Additional Schedule Details: Posted Salary Grade: Exempt - G25 Retirement: KTRS Contact Person: Tim Holt Job Summary/Basic Functions Director of Flight Safety is responsible for implementing and managing the EKU Aviation Safety Management System as part of a collegiate FAA Part 141 flight training program. Director of Flight Safety will work closely with the Chief Flight Instructor, Maintenance Manager, and Operations Manager to ensure the safe conduct of all flight training events. The incumbent will perform routine safety audits, flight line safety reviews, and initiate actions required to increase safety awareness. Director of Flight Safety is responsible for the coordination and administration of the Safety Committee and ensuring compliance with all applicable university and aviation safety policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelors Degree required Experience: Two years of directly related experience Licensure & Certifications: Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). Additional advanced flight instructor certifications preferred. Preferred Qualifications Job Duties 15% - Perform routine safety audits as prescribed by the EKU Aviation Safety Management System policy - (Essential) 15% - Collate, organize, evaluate, investigate and manage EKU Aviation Safety reports - (Essential) 15% - Coordinate and manage EKU Aviation Safety Committee meetings and reports - (Essential) 15% - Inspect EKU Aviation equipment, assets, and environment for unsafe workplace conditions - (Essential) 20% - Implement and manage the EKU Aviation Safety Management System - (Essential) 10% - Establish, coordinate, direct, and evaluate the effectiveness of EKU Aviation Safety policies and procedures - (Essential) 5% - Schedule, coordinate and conduct required EKU Aviation Safety Standdowns - (Essential) 5% - Support the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned - (Essential) Sponsorship This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
