Position Overview: Specialties : Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology Type : Locum Tenens Start Date : ASAP End Date : Ongoing Coverage Type : Call Only Practice Setting : Inpatient Key Responsibilities: Call Coverage : Provide expert gastrointestinal care on an on-call basis. Manage inpatient consults and urgent GI issues as they arise during your call shifts. Handle a manageable patient load with an estimated 1 patient per shift . Clinical Environment : The role is strictly inpatient with no outpatient responsibilities, allowing you to focus on acute care needs within the hospital setting. Work within a bed department environment, ensuring that each patient receives dedicated attention. Technology : The facility uses the Epic EMR system, ensuring that patient information is accessible and organized for efficient care delivery. Collaboration : You will be working alongside a supportive medical team in a hospital that values high-quality patient care. While the facility does not require you to have hospital or surgery center privileges, the ability to work effectively within the inpatient setting is essential. Qualifications: Board Certification : Must be board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine with a specialty in Gastroenterology. A fellowship in Gastroenterology is preferred, enhancing your capability to manage complex GI cases. Licensing : Candidates must hold a valid Alabama state license . While certifications in ABLS , ACLS , ATLS , BLS , and PALS are not required, possessing relevant experience in inpatient care is crucial. Credentialing : The estimated credentialing timeframe is approximately 30 days , allowing for a swift onboarding process.
