Senior Safety Engineer – Power Tools and Accessories Robert Bosch Tool Corporation invites applications for a hybrid remote role (60% of the month in office at Mount Prospect, Illinois). The Senior Product Safety Engineer ensures the safety of new power tools by performing hazard analysis, risk assessment, and formulating mitigation measures. The role also involves documenting safety requirements in the Product Safety Review, communicating these requirements to product development teams, mentoring peers, and supporting investigations of field returns. Responsibilities Analyze new product designs and prototypes for user hazards, assess risk, and develop hazard mitigation requirements. Document safety requirements in Product Safety Review and maintain them throughout product development. Communicate Product Safety requirements to project teams via meetings, calls, and emails. Review test reports to confirm product safety qualification requirements are met. Provide safety input for user manuals and review content for safety concerns. Create and mentor on product warning label content per ANSI Z535. Review product photography, videography, and marketing artwork for accurate representation of safe use and compliance with instructions. Mentor and train other Product Safety Engineers. Train product development teams on Product Safety requirements and workflow. Create and update Product Safety procedures and design guidelines. Support product investigations related to testing and field returns. Challenge product development team on appropriate hazard mitigation methods. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline. Minimum 6‑8 years of experience in North American agency approvals (UL, CSA), regulatory compliance (CFR, OSHA), new product development for consumer products, or quality engineering for new product development. Experience analyzing and using power tools is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to describe technical information to project teams. Strong understanding of North American product safety requirements for product design. Awareness of how North Americans use power tools on job sites, homes, and yards. Patient and detail‑oriented, with the ability to proofread written instructions for logical errors, contradictions, or safety hazards. Familiarity with hazard identification and methods to document countermeasures.
