What to Expect Join us as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer and help manufacture "the machine that builds the machine." In this role, you’ll drive the development of efficient, high-quality manufacturing lines and processes for Optimus and Energy Products at our Fremont factory. From early design through full‑scale production, you’ll work with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment to shape the future of AI robotics and energy technology. What You’ll Do Develop and validate manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and processes to support early‑stage prototype builds Determine and procure equipment that is necessary for all manufacturing processes used to build the product Work with equipment integrators to design and manufacture equipment and fixtures for medium to high‑volume production Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff and installation of manufacturing equipment Perform process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing activities, and capacity modeling/simulation Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to design team for process and yield improvements Create detailed manufacturing instructions to train technicians and line operators on new processes and equipment What You’ll Bring Solid experience as a hands‑on Mechanical/Manufacturing/Design Engineer working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA) Experience with conveyance, transducer‑based fastening systems (Atlas Copco preferred), robotic systems (Fanuc or Kuka preferred), adhesive dispensing, laser welding or automated functional testing Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment Experience providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Automation (DFA) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full‑time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family‑building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company paid (Health Savings Account) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High Deductible Aetna medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D, short‑term and long‑term disability insurance Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions), and Paid Holidays Back‑up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $116,000 - $198,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
