**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** PCU/Stepdown
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12H Days, 3 shifts per week, rotating every other weekend and holidays, with potential float requirements
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year required
**License:** Valid RN License
**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
**Must-Have:**
- ICU skill set due to potential floating requirements
- Experience with Bipap, Cpap, Mechanical Ventilation, telemetry, critical drips, post-cardiac cath care
- Familiarity with Insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone, and low-dose Dopamine drips
- Ability to titrate drips
**Job Description:**
- Work on a specialized PCU/Stepdown unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
- Care for patients with common diagnoses such as post-op vascular conditions, hemodynamically stable cardiac dysrhythmias, CVA, Sepsis, Renal issues, Stable acute MI, and Unstable angina.
- Provide care for post-cardiac cath patients with PTCA or significant blockages.
- Collaborate with the Charge Nurse and House Supervisor for resource availability.
- Assist with general care and unit clerk duties as needed alongside nurse aids.
- Operate respiratory therapy equipment including Cpap, Bipap, High flow O2, and Mechanical ventilation via tracheostomy.
- Float to Med-Surg Telemetry or Emergency Department when required.
- Adhere to dress code: Solid color scrubs in navy for RN/LPN, dark grey/pewter for Techs—no patterns or embroidery.
- Participate in a thorough orientation process including hospital, nursing, computer training, and shifts with a preceptor.
- Complete an Initial Skills Checklist within 90 days from the start date.
**Floating Requirement:** Required to float to Med-Surg Telemetry and Emergency Department when necessary.
**Scrub Color/Dress Code:** Navy for RN/LPN; Dark Grey/Pewter for Techs. Solid, no embroidery/patterns.
**Charting System:** Meditech/EPIC
**Weekend Requirement:** Every other weekend
**Holiday Requirement:** Rotational
**Orientation:**
- General hospital orientation on the first day
- Full day of nursing orientation
- Computer training
- Two, 12-hour orientation shifts with a preceptor
**Cancellation Policy:** Up to two shifts per 13-week assignment
