We work on projects that are as challenging as they are impactful. Opportunity Integrated Design is looking for a talented and passionate Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. A background in mining or heavy industrial and processing sectors is preferred. The successful candidate will primarily support mining work in Phoenix, Arizona, and will work as part of a strong interdisciplinary team on a variety of Energy & Resources projects across North America and internationally. Key Responsibilities Act as Engineer-of-Record for projects and/or project components. Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Participate in client project requirement meetings, value engineering analysis, and basic cost estimating. Develop and manage project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule. Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents. Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and peer projects. Assist with proposal development. Incorporate innovation, optimization, and standardization in designs. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers. Develop electrical construction drawings, including single‑line diagrams, power and lighting plans, grounding plans, elevations, wiring diagrams, motor control schematics, riser diagrams, installation details, and schedules. Lead electrical technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and testing & commissioning plans. Coordinate electrical specifications and drawings with other disciplines. Model, study, and analyze power systems (load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, motor acceleration studies). Familiarize with mine infrastructure design, including switch rooms, cabling, tray systems, power distribution, and GPR/charging current assessments. Assist with electromechanical construction, startup, and commissioning field support. Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Professional Engineering license required. Eligibility for a Professional Engineering license in Arizona and/or Utah. 15 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry or mining. Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and preferred tools such as AGi32, Revit, ETAP, SKM, and Visual Lighting Software. Office Location and Schedule Arizona, Colorado, Utah – primary office at Chandler, AZ. Office-based with flexible arrangement; hybrid work discussed. Travel to client sites and other Stantec offices (~10% travel). Pay Range Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD – Min Salary: $117,800 – Max Salary: $176,800 (per year).
