Medical Laboratory Technologist

A prominent and well-known health system in the Charlotte, NC area is seeking dedicated and skilled Medical Technologists - Generalists to join their team. The role involves performing laboratory analysis on received specimens to provide crucial clinical information for diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. The Medical Technologist will ensure overall quality, efficiency, and safety in the performance of technical duties.
Essential Functions
Perform and adhere to testing procedures and quality assurance guidelines.
Prepare reagents and manage inventory to reduce waste and expense.
Assess priorities, troubleshoot issues, and offer solutions through appropriate channels.
Review and revise procedures to meet accreditation and regulatory requirements (CAP, TJC, OSHA).
Maintain clear communication shift-to-shift and with leadership regarding patient care or departmental operations.
Participate in staff meetings, task forces, projects, and competency assessment programs.
Physical Requirements
Work in a fast-paced clinical environment with biohazardous materials, chemicals, and mechanical hazards.
Duties involve standing, walking, stretching, stooping, bending, and lifting loads (20-50 pounds).
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required, MT, MLS, or equivalent registry eligible.
Certifications: MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), or equivalent required within one year of hire.
Skills and Experience: Patient care, ASCP, medical technology, OSHA, real-time documentation, problem-solving, inventory management, laboratory procedures, and corrective action documentation.
Pay Range
MLS/MT: $28 - $41 per hour
MLT: $20 - $31 per hour
Schedule
Schedules vary depending on the specific position and location, but a variety of shifts are available, including rotating weekends and holidays.
