DESCRIPTION The POCT Coordinator oversees laboratory testing across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. This role combines technical expertise, regulatory oversight, and strong communication skills to maintain high-quality patient care standards. Key Responsibilities Oversee quality and compliance of POCT across multiple clinical sites, ensuring adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards. Conduct site visits, audits, and staff training to maintain accurate and reliable testing practices. Serve as a technical resource for POCT equipment, troubleshooting, and implementation of new methods. Coordinate initial and annual staff training, competency assessments, and proficiency testing programs. Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with biohazard and chemical safety protocols. Perform data analysis to support quality assurance, cost control, and process improvement initiatives. Maintain strong communication with POCT users, staff, and suppliers to ensure best practices. Process applications for CLIA License renewals, changes and new applications. Advise on the management of procurement, inventory, and proper storage of POCT supplies and equipment. Minimum Qualifications Must have current Clinical Laboratory Scientist issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health. Bachelor's degree with a major in an appropriate scientific field. Two (2) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience. Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, and State of California requirements for Point of Care Testing. Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences. Strong problem solving skills to assist clinic staff to resolve issues, remotely or on site. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. Must have the ability to multitask. Teamwork, excellent communication, customer service and process improvement skills are all applicable to this position. Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability. Experience with Lab equipment maintenance, peer training, technical writing and review of standard operating procedures. Preferred Qualifications Six (6) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience. Experience with point of care testing devices. Experience with device connectivity on a health system network. Experience with building LIS test codes. Experience with validating test codes and interfaces. Experience with managing a middleware/database such as Telcor QML or similar. Experience with Epic. Special Conditions Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $119,830 - $157,853 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $57.39 - $75.60 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
