To learn more about us, visit About the Role We are seeking a Data Scientist (AI/ML focus) to support the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO). The Data Scientist will analyze, model, and simulate data supporting HUD AI/ML proofs of concept and pilots. Additionally, the Data Scientist will develop predictive models, simulations, and decision‑theory frameworks to enhance system functionality, operational efficiency, and mission alignment. This is a fully remote position. Candidates must reside in the United States. Responsibilities Develop statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and simulations using Python. Analyze HUD datasets, implement data preprocessing, and assess data quality for AI workflows. Collaborate with HCD/UX and front‑end teams to ensure models are operationalized effectively. Evaluate model performance, validate results, and iterate for improvement. Support AI governance by documenting models, decisions, assumptions, and ethical safeguards. Maintain version‑controlled code and reproducible workflows for HUD audit and compliance. Requirements Required Experience and Skills 5+ years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, or AI/ML projects. Experience developing predictive models, simulations, and decision‑support tools. Familiarity with federal datasets and AI governance requirements preferred. Strong data processing, cleaning, transformation, and engineering capabilities. Federal‑scale datasets, such as SQL, NoSQL, Spark, Kafka, or cloud‑native pipelines. Previous experience supporting HUD OCIO preferred. Ability to pass required Federal background screening and obtain and maintain both government clearance and customer approval. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
