Director of Accounting Services and Reporting – Financial Services Director Join the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) as the Director of Accounting Services and Reporting. In this leadership role you will manage the agency’s budget, accounting systems and reporting, ensuring fiscal accountability across 11 correctional facilities and programmatic units. Job Summary The Director will lead budget management, oversee accounting systems, and supervise Central Office finance staff. Collaboration with the Legislative Budget Director is essential for developing biennial budgets and financial plans. Job Responsibilities Collaborate with the Legislative Budget Director to develop the agency biennial budget. Direct and manage assembly of spending plans for all agency programs. Oversee the administration of multiple budgets across the agency, ensuring alignment with programmatic goals and fiscal accountability. Provide leadership, management, and supervision of Central Office finance staff. Develop, implement and take primary responsibility for new financial systems from conception to completion. Oversee the preparation of schedules for the statutory ACFR and federal indirect cost proposals. Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of accounting or financial management experience in a leadership capacity. Leadership experience in supervisory, team lead, or project lead roles; completion of a Minnesota leadership program (e.g., ELI or SLI) is acceptable. A Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; a Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with diverse customers. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of biennial budget process and procedures. High-level strategic project management experience. Track record of process and system development and implementation.Experience administering budgets in state agencies. Advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or related field. Physical Requirements The selected finalist must complete a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) and may need a tuberculosis screening. Additional Requirements Screening for criminal history and other background checks will be conducted. Top candidates must pass a criminal history check without outstanding sentencing or restitution obligations.
