**Description:**
This position is for a registered nurse in a mixed acuity unit, dealing with intermediate care, telemetry, and medical-surgical patients. The unit includes surgical cases such as urology, orthopedics, and neurosurgery, as well as general medical patients. Nurses should be comfortable with intermediate care assignments and have previous experience with similar patient types. Skills required include the ability to read and interpret cardiac strips, manage chest tubes, provide tracheostomy care, handle various lines and drains, administer medications and TPN/tube feedings, and perform wound care. Drip titration experience with medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and others is important. The role includes support from charge nurses, nurse aides, and a resource nurse, with required charting done in the Epic system. Nurses may float to other units within their scope and will work varying schedules possibly including weekends and holidays. Orientation involves unit and department integration with classroom and practical components under guidance.
