About the Role This is a full‑time onsite position supporting our design engineering team, responsible for the electrical design and development of both prototype and production units across the entire product portfolio—from concept and detailed design through manufacturing release and support of Heads Up Technologies, Inc. products and systems. You’ll be a hands‑on designer working under the guidance of senior engineers and the Electrical Engineering Manager, collaborating closely with mechanical, software, and FPGA teams. Key Details Work Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility to set schedule. Location: Addison, TX. Compensation: Based on qualifications and comprehensive benefits package. Work Eligibility: Must be a United States citizen. What You’ll Do Design and Implementation Own detailed electrical design work including analog and digital design. Perform schematic capture and PCB layout to ensure robust, manufacturable designs. Verification, Validation, and Certification Plan and execute design verification and validation activities, including board bring‑up, troubleshooting, and performance characterization. Perform highly accelerated life testing (HALT), environmental qualification testing (DO‑160G), and related studies. Produce, maintain, and review technical documentation such as HALT summaries, test procedures, qualification test reports, and product drawings. Collaboration and Project Support Own assigned tasks and subsystems within larger projects, ensuring designs meet internal, customer, and functional requirements and schedule commitments. Conceive, research, and implement engineering design changes to improve manufacturability and robustness in coordination with sustaining engineering. Learning and Continuous Improvement Explore and evaluate new technologies, standards, tools, and devices for potential integration into future products. Participate actively in design reviews—presenting work and providing constructive feedback to peers. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). Three (3) to ten (10) years of electrical design experience. Core Technical Skills Experience with analog and digital circuit design, including microcontrollers, processors, and/or DSP‑based designs. Skill in symbol/footprint design, schematic capture, and PCB layout using OrCAD Capture/Allegro PCB Designer or similar toolset. Experience with processors, microcontrollers, and/or DSP‑based designs. Experience with network/Ethernet designs and common communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.). Proficiency with hardware diagnostic tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, function generators, etc. Ability to research, understand, and apply functional and technical specifications, datasheets, and hardware manuals to electrical designs. Ways of Working Collaborate effectively with engineers from other disciplines, including mechanical, software, and FPGA engineers. Require minimal supervision and consistently deliver designs that meet all required specifications, schedule milestones, and deadlines. Solid written and verbal communication skills, documenting designs and test results clearly. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with embedded software (C, assembly, etc.) and hardware/software integration. Experience with RTCA DO‑160G or similar environmental and electrical qualification standards. FPGA/ASIC design experience using Xilinx FPGAs and toolset.
