My Client, a leading transportation engineering firm located in downtown Chicago, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Inspector to join our team. We specialize in providing innovative solutions for transportation infrastructure projects, contributing to the development and enhancement of the urban landscape.


You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of transportation construction projects in the downtown Chicago area. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to monitor construction activities, review plans and specifications, and enforce project requirements to ensure successful project completion.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct on-site inspections of transportation construction projects to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable regulations.
  2. Monitor construction activities including earthwork, paving, drainage, utilities, and structural elements to ensure quality and adherence to project requirements.
  3. Review construction documents, drawings, and specifications to verify accuracy and compliance with project standards.
  4. Document and report construction progress, issues, and deviations from plans to project managers and stakeholders.
  5. Conduct material testing and inspection as required to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  6. Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to address construction-related issues and facilitate timely resolution.
  7. Enforce safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all construction personnel.
  8. Assist in the preparation of progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for project records.
  9. Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams regarding construction methods, materials, and best practices.
  10. Stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulations related to transportation construction and inspection.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction inspection, preferably in transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques related to transportation projects.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations governing transportation construction.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively review construction documents and drawings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Certification as a Construction Inspector (e.g., ACI, NICET) is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to construction sites as needed.
