The Opportunity:

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Buyer/Planner to join their team. This position plays a crucial role in the supply team by managing the procurement of technical components and materials required for the company's operations with a focus on new product introduction and production supply. By collaborating with suppliers, internal teams, and maintaining a strategic approach to procurement, this role contributes to the overall efficiency and success of the organization's product cost reduction efforts and supply chain processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze technical drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to identify required components and materials.
  • Develop procurement strategies to reduce costs and accommodate lead times and market trends.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of technical components and materials.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Create and manage purchase orders for technical components and materials.
  • Analyze demand forecasts and historical usage data to determine optimal inventory levels.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field; CPM or CPIM certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of relevant part fabrication and assembly process including metals, plastics, printed circuit boards, electrical/mechanical assembly.
  • Proven cross functional collaboration leadership experience particularly with NPI to lead DFX and cost reduction efforts.
  • Current on commodity market pricing and availability for various metals, plastics, discrete electronics, and ICs.
  • Proficiency in using procurement and inventory management software; working knowledge of NetSuite MRP and Planning Workbench functionality a plus.
