The Manufacturing Engineer (of NPI Projects) will drive the design, development and implementation of cost-effective manufacturing and workflow methodologies, equipment, and related processes from conception to MP release. They will oversee the implementation of reliable and leading-edge manufacturing processes, ensuring that we achieve set targets for cost, quality, capacity, and productivity. They will act as the primary manufacturing technical lead for an integrated New Product Development Team at Amphenol RF.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Program Management, Design Engineering, Quality Control, and Operations teams on the new product development cycle;
  • Coordinate the completion of new product analysis during the early stages of product design and development;
  • Participate in the CDR review process, identifying potential concerns and/or providing design recommendations from the manufacturing point of view;
  • Research and implement industry-leading manufacturing processes, methodologies, equipment, tools, and techniques;
  • Recommend optimal manufacturing processes and workflow based on product specifications and customer or industry requirements;
  • Identify, evaluate, and provide final recommendations regarding relationships with new or existing vendors for all ‘Level 3’ projects, with consideration taken for technology, product design and specifications, costs, capacity, support, and customer requirements;
  • Develop manufacturing budgets and investment estimates related to processes, equipment, tools, and other resources;
  • Collaborate closely with Operations to develop ground-breaking and cost-efficient manufacturing and assembly processes; and
  • Act as Lead and Coordinator at different stages of the APQP process, including but not limited to DFM, process and equipment definition and development, NPI sample build, tooling verification and FAIs, PFMEAs, PFDs, preliminary cpk studies, process validation planning, production trial runs validations, and ‘run at rate’ studies.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering a must, specifically in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Process, Industrial, or Electrical;
  • At least 3 years of related experience;
  • Proven ability to manage projects and lead others, as well as strong skills in problem-solving, decision-making, trouble-shooting, and interpersonal communications;
  • Entrepreneurial, goal-oriented, and self-motivated;
  • Experience using 3D CAD and/or Solid works drafting tools; hands-on experience and understanding of APQP tools, processes, and reporting requirements, statistical process controls and failure analysis tools and techniques; Lean and Six Sigma experience;
  • Overall familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC, Stamping, Soldering, and Plastic Injection Molding; and
  • Able to travel 25% of time (Domestic and International).
