Senior VMware Engineer

Seeking a talented VMware Engineer to join our client in the team in Cheyenne, Wyoming (onsite 5 days) - This engineer will need prior or current Core lab infrastructure experience in private and public cloud environments is essential for this role.


Our MUST haves:

  • Senior VMware experience (likely 8+yrs experience)
  • Leadership/Manager or end-to-end facilitation experience
  • Good communication, the ability to communicate with leadership about project details

Senior VMware Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, and administer virtualization using VMware and Hyper-V tools or similar interfaces.
  • Develop automated scripts for monitoring and analyzing infrastructure operations.
  • Proactively identify and recommend updates to software or architecture to prevent capacity limitations.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop automated incident response procedures to minimize manual intervention.
  • Champion system metrics such as MTBF and MTTR and provide regular updates to decision-makers.
  • Manage issue priorities and participate in the on-call rotation schedule, including weekends.

Senior VMware Engineer Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in VMware services and tools.
  • Direct experience with building and administering multiple VMware products across remote locations and data centers.
  • Excellent communication- will need to be able to speak with stakeholders
  • 1 or more years of experience in programming using one or more of the following languages: Java, C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, or advanced Shell scripting.
  • Experience with Core lab infrastructure in private and public cloud environments such as orchestrating test environments spanning AWS Sandbox, ISV labs, and Field Test Environments.
