The Role
The Fidelity Smart Money team, a small but mighty group of editors and writers, is looking for an enthusiastic editorial operations associate to help us produce 2 weekly newsletters; explainers, how-tos, and reported features for Fidelity.com; live events; and more for an audience of people new to managing their money. You’ll develop your writing, editing, story-pitching, and analytics-reporting skills while helping editorial operations run smoothly and efficiently. Tasks would include:

 

  • Ushering content through our layered review process, addressing feedback from in-house subject matter experts (SMEs) and legal and compliance, and preparing content to be built on Fidelity.com
  • Pulling analytics data, creating decks to show partners how our content is performing, and finding trends to help the team do more of what works
  • Finding high-volume SEO keywords and creating SEO briefs (aka outlines for feature-length articles to help them rank for terms people are searching for online)
  • Pitching and writing newsletter stories, working up to writing feature-length stories
  • Updating landing pages and articles to keep them fresh

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • A background in or deep understanding of marketing, journalism, and/or digital/social media
  • A background or interest in personal finance topics and search engine optimization (SEO)
  • A track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to write clearly and conversationally in a way young readers appreciate
  • A strong sense of urgency and ownership over assignments
  • A bias toward action

The Team
A small team within the larger content department (part of the even larger marketing organization), Smart Money includes former staffers at major editorial brands. The team helps Fidelity reach new people, turn them into customers, and get customers to take action with their money. The writers and editors on the team are as high-performing as they are reasonable, collaborative, and supportive of each other. The Editorial Operations Associate will be a key member of this team and will support the operations and optimization it takes to get content live and performing well.
