The Research Associate role is key to the success of our highly consultative, client-oriented search process. The Research Associate provides fundamental research to support the candidate development and qualification activities of our Associates and Partners. They will work in a fast-paced, fluid, and collaborative environment in which all members of the team must be self-starters capable of delivering high-quality work informed by sound judgment and a strong sense of accountability.
The Research Associate will have the opportunity to develop or further enhance skills in research, project management, marketing and business development, teamwork, data gathering and presentation, and client service. The Research Associate position reports to our Senior Research Associate.
Depending on availability and qualifications, we are open to a full-time or part-time role. In either case, the Research Associate will be benefits-eligible. We prefer that our Research Associate be based in Philadelphia or Charlottesville, but we are open to another location, especially for a candidate with experience in executive search or another research-intensive field such as fundraising. Even if in Philadelphia or Charlottesville, we anticipate a remote-work arrangement with occasional in-person time.
The Research Associate is responsible for –
· Providing timely, thorough, and accurate basic research via the Internet and other sources to support candidate identification and evaluation, candidate due diligence, and client analysis
- Supporting new business development activities of the firm including via client research, market analysis, and competitive intelligence
- Continuing the development of our candidate database
- Producing client updates and other reports as requested
- Managing activities related to gathering EEO information as required by clients
- Posting job advertisements as requested.
This breakdown of effort may fluctuate as the firm’s project load changes, as the Research Associate develops distinctive skills and areas of excellence that have firm-wide impact, and as our Research & Knowledge Management function develops. The primary area of activity, especially for a part-time role, will remain candidate identification and qualification.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated excellence in a related area of research that is primarily qualitative, prospective, and applied and that enables efficient ongoing activity (e.g. fundraising, strategic communication, business development, or association management); direct experience in recruitment or executive search preferred but not required
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work independently with good judgment
- Excellent organization and project-management skills
- Initiative and creativity
- High standards for accuracy and timeliness
- Adept with Microsoft Office programs and relational databases
- Facility with Boolean research queries strongly preferred
- Readiness to work in a small, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented professional-services firm
