Job Summary: 

The Horticulturist position should have a strong knowledge and love of plant culture and take pride in their work. We strive for every site to look its best at all times. This candidate should be able to work efficiently, independently, and with others to accomplish projects and tasks accordingly. 

Job Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

·      Ensuring crew members are following design guidelines

·      Guide and educate crew members on the job site 

Duties/Responsibilities

·      Collaborate with team on new design and renovation projects, and seasonal plantings

·      Conduct site visits, take field measurements and document with notes and photos

·      Prepare new design and renovation projects, and seasonal planting budgets and estimates and seek client approval

·      Responsible for planting acquisitions and plant sourcing for maintenance sites, installation projects and seasonal plantings; Research nurseries; Check plant availability and pricing; Coordinate with nurseries for purchases, coordinate pick-up/delivery and nursery runs

·      Oversee coordination and scheduling of planting installations at maintenance and installation sites, and coordinate with  maintenance and installation teams; oversee teams on these planting projects

·      Lead quality control when managing and overall aesthetics at assigned sites and projects

·      Collaborate with bookkeeper to track invoices and payments with customers

·      Organize records to include subcontractor documentation and purchases

·      Supervise and help train gardeners at maintenance sites with perennials and annuals cutbacks, pruning, and cleaning out dead throughout the season.

·      General garden maintenance work may be required if our maintenance team is short staffed or a job requires a larger team.

Job Requirements:

·      Strong verbal & written communication skills

·      Good time management skills

·      Ability to take direction, prioritize, and multi-task

·      Energetic, motivated, and hardworking

·      Punctual, dependable, and willing to work in most weather

·      Clean driver’s license and a smart phone are a must

·      Knowledge of irrigation and landscape lighting a plus

Education & Experience:

·      5+ years’ experience in garden maintenance – green roof, rooftop, urban environments a plus

·      Good working knowledge of plant identification, health, and habit

Employment Type:

This a seasonal full-time position with room for growth. Start date is as soon as possible with the season running through December. Weekend work is seldom except a couple possible Saturdays throughout the season. Compensation commensurate with experience.
