Location: 100% Westmont Office

Founded in 1906, John Burns has a diverse, growing portfolio with a varied private and public customer base in General Contracting, Electrical Infrastructure and Telecommunications. We design, build, manage and maintain infrastructure systems to connect people and improve their lives.

The Estimator is responsible for the preparation of detailed and accurate estimates for electrical, telecom and general contracting projects. The Estimator also fosters collaborative relationships with the project teams as well as taking a proactive role in developing relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers.

We’re looking for your to do the following:

1. Plans/Specifications - Ability to review and understand the plans, specifications, notes, addendums, Q&A, etc.

2. Demonstrate strong organizational, time management and written/verbal communication skills

3. Ability to attend prebid meeting, take pictures and perform site measurements

4. Perform quantity take-off

5. Analyze estimates to determine required trades and setup subcontractor / supplier call list.

6. Write Subcontractor / Supplier Scopes

7. Email "Requests for Quotes" to solicit pricing from appropriate subcontractors / suppliers.

8. Price both lump sum and unit price estimates

9. Organize and analyze subcontractor/material quotations

10. Structures - Estimating Ability

11. Infrastructure - Estimating Ability

12. Complete self-perform Bill of Material and labor estimates for work that will be completed by JBCC forces – Earthwork, Utilities, Concrete, Carpentry & Electrical

13. Complete self-perform Bill of Material and labor estimates for work that will be completed by JBCC forces - Electrical

14. Develop project budget by utilizing previous estimate cost history

15. Analyze bid documents to determine inherent risk and competitive advantage

16. Develop and implement a "Win Strategy”

17. Develop DBE, MBE, WBE & VBE Plans to give JBCC competitive advantage

18. Conduct Labor Reviews with Construction Managers and Program Managers

19. Develop a project schedules

20. Negotiate Bid Day Pricing with Subcontractors / Suppliers

21. Write Contracts and Purchase Orders...Review Contracts / PO's written by others for accuracy.

22. Schedule and conduct estimate handoff meetings. Demonstrates ability to hold individuals accountable for handoff deliverables

23. Leadership - Clearly demonstrate leadership ability and be seen as leader among peers
