Special Education Teacher

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to join our team at the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring their academic and social-emotional success.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, addressing their unique learning goals, strengths, and needs.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in various academic subjects, including reading, writing, math, and other areas of the curriculum.
- Adapt instructional materials, strategies, and assessments to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students with disabilities in inclusive classroom settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and related service providers to ensure the effective implementation of IEPs and support the inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education curriculum.
- Use ongoing assessment data to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and modify IEP goals and objectives as needed.
- Implement behavior management strategies and supports to address challenging behaviors and promote positive social interactions and engagement in learning.
- Provide support and guidance to paraprofessionals and other support staff working with students with disabilities.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress, goals, and strategies for support both in school and at home.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and collaboration opportunities with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
- Stay current with best practices, research, and legal requirements in the field of special education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid California teaching credential with Special Education endorsement (or eligibility for credentialing).
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities in educational settings preferred.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
