Position function: Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the individual will be responsible to support all QC testing requirements and product and process monitoring that supports the delivery of safe quality products to our customers.


Scope: Located in our University Park location within the QC team, the position will manage multiple, ongoing tasks to ensure safe quality ingredients and finished products. This position will work closely with Manufacturing, Shipping and Receiving, Purchasing and Replenishment, Customer Service, R&D, Regulatory, and Sales.


MAJOR TASKS AND DUTIES:

  • Test to positively release manufactured products according to product parameters and create the related certificates of analysis (COAs)
  • Test to positively release incoming bulk and packaged raw materials, such as vegetable oils, lecithin, white mineral oil, and create the related lot numbers and COAs.
  • Assist in investigating product non-conformances and customer complaint investigations.
  • Assist in determining disposition of ON HOLD materials, support rework and shelf life extension initiatives; provide disposition outcomes to QC Supervisor and Production scheduler.
  • Support shipping department by providing the COA with delivery of product as per customer requests
  • Assist in new and alternate ingredient evaluations; validate conformance to existing product specifications of new raw material suppliers.
  • Support shop floor QA monitoring of sanitation programs, incoming shipments.
  • Aid in the implementation of HACCP and GMP programs and procedures.
  • Support GLP’s for equipment calibration, record keeping, lab supplies (chemical and reagents), etc.
  • Maintain lab and working areas clean, organized, stocked with supplies as required.
  • Verify all incoming paperwork to ensure product meets specification; review limits, verify lot numbers, troubleshoot any issues or discrepancies such as a COA that is out of specifications.
  • Assist warehouse and distribution with troubleshooting relating to quality and specification related issues; includes inspecting trailers, identifying products missing supplier labels, inspecting incoming damages
  • Responsible for following Food Safety and Quality requirements as per Prerequisite programs, HACCP plans, CCP monitoring and SQF code.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by Quality Control Supervisor/Manager
  • Comply with all company policies



KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Science Degree (Biology or Chemistry) or Diploma (Food Science an asset)
  • Working experience with Food Quality and Safety (Including HACCP) Programs and Food Plant GMPs preferred
  • 2 years working experience in a Food Manufacturing or Quality Lab preferred
  • Previous working experience with HPLC or other analytical instrumentation an asset
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able manage multiple priorities and deliver results within expected timeliness
  • Strong attention to detail, computer skills.
  • Must be self-motivated to work with minimal supervision
