The Nuclear Medicine Technologist serves dual roles as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Radiology Facility Coordinator. Responsibilities include:

Nuclear Medicine Technologist Duties:

  • Perform nuclear procedures (e.g., cardiac imaging, thyroid scans) under a Nuclear Medicine Director/physician.
  • Order and prepare radiopharmaceuticals, administering them orally or by injection.
  • Explain procedures to patients and operate imaging equipment (SPECT Gamma Cameras).
  • Process and record images, monitor patients for reactions, and follow ALARA safety procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate nuclear equipment, gather dosimeter badges, and complete necessary documentation.

Radiology Facility Coordinator Duties:

  • Oversee radiology procedures (Nuclear/Ultrasound/X-ray), mentor staff, and streamline workflow for timely report delivery.
  • Support X-ray and Ultrasound Technicians with report management and assist in communication between radiology staff and management.
  • Contribute to process improvement, data collection, and scheduling.
  • Manage equipment maintenance, licensing renewals, and assist with increasing patient volume for nuclear stress tests.
  • Ensure timely report delivery, coordinate billing, and handle equipment maintenance and administrative tasks.
