NOC Specialist

NOC Specialist (Tier 1.5) - Durham, NC (2x per week onsite)

Optomi, in partnership with a leader in the IT Security and Telecommunications space is looking to add a NOC Specialist to their growing team The NOC Specialist will come with 2 years experience working in a NOC or SOC and have the ability to train on various tools and firewalls within the environment. The NOC Specialist will also assist with security monitoring.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE RIGHT CANDIDATE:

• 2+ years experience working in a NOC or SOC
• Firewall experience preferred
• Ability to obtain a security clearance (if needed)
• Knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP
• Experience with Cisco command line interface and configuration preferred
• Experience working with wireless technologies, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), WAN Accelerators and associated technologies preferred
• Working knowledge of ticketing systems: creating, updating and closing tickets
• Network+, ITIL Foundations, CCENT, Security+ certifications preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RIGHT CANDIDATE:

• Specialists will be responsible for monitoring network dashboards, analyzing problems, troubleshooting, coordinating, and reporting of all operational information concerning the enterprise network infrastructure
• Provide first-line investigation and diagnosis of all incidents, logging all details and prioritization codes for all incidents
• Conduct technical services and support at the Tier I level, including WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
• Installation and support for remote access platforms
• Promptly assign unresolved incidents to higher Tier support or internet service providers to coordinate restoration of service and obtain the necessary information for recording/tracking the outage or degradation of service
• Keep other NOCs informed of their incident’s status at agreed intervals and continuously update incidents as needed
