Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled Security Control Assessor to protect vital IT assets and ensure the integrity of information systems for their federal government customer. The ideal candidate will have experience in cyber, cloud, and enterprise security, and will work to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
Job Summary:
As a Security Control Assessor, you will ensure the safety and integrity of information systems by evaluating security controls, identifying vulnerabilities, and recommending corrective actions. You will work independently or as part of a team to protect systems from unauthorized access and exploitation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) of security controls.
  • Implement procedures to protect information systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.
  • Evaluate network systems' security controls to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Mitigate potential exploitation avenues at both system and user levels.
  • Apply expertise in RMF, CNSSI 1253, NIST SP 800-53, and NISPOM standards.
  • Utilize Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker (SCC).
Qualifications:
  • Current (Active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI and CI Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of technical experience in security control assessment.
  • Proficiency with compliance and vulnerability scanning tools such as XACTA, RedSeal, Nessus, Splunk, and McAfee ePO.
  • Hands-on experience in security testing, risk analysis, and documentation.
  • Ability to develop risk assessment reports and conduct security evaluations based on information assurance policies.
  • Experience in threat analysis and security remediation for cloud-based systems and applications.
  • Strong understanding of the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process.
  • Excellent oral and technical writing skills.
