The Land Surveyor in Training performs many of the duties required of the position as a Project Surveyor and is expected to exercise increasingly independent judgement in matters related to work procedures and methods. The individual in this position works directly under the responsible charge of a Licensed Land Surveyor to develop his/her skill set in preparation for licensure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for drafting and production of surveys and related documentation, preparation of reports, performing technical research, etc.
- Research and become familiar with applicable Federal, state, and local regulations and development standards in a particular field.
- Perform basic survey calculations under supervision from senior staff.
- Performs QA/QC on survey field data, notes, drafting, survey maps, and deliverables.
PREREQUISITES:
- Graduate of a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Geomatics or related field or currently enrolled in the Geomatics program.
- Taken and passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Land Surveying exam.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Team-oriented
- Technical skills in mapping, design, or modeling software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Sketch-Up, Microsoft or related software packages)
