Job Summary

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in engineering within the defense industry and is adept at managing complex, multidisciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Planning and Design:
  • Lead the development of technical project plans, defining scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Participate in design and development activities, ensuring solutions meet all technical, performance, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop, review, and finalize engineering specifications and drawings.
  1. Technical Oversight and Problem Solving:
  • Oversee the engineering activities within the project, providing technical direction and expertise.
  • Identify and address technical issues or obstacles, ensuring timely resolution to maintain project schedules.
  • Conduct technical assessments and analyses, using engineering principles to ensure compliance with requirements.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and testing teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and materials meeting project specifications.
  • Participate in regular project reviews, both internally and with clients, providing updates on technical progress and challenges.
  1. Documentation and Compliance:
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, test plans, and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure all project work complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including DoD, ITAR, and other defense-specific regulations.
  • Support audits and inspections, addressing any compliance concerns related to engineering activities.
  1. Testing and Validation:
  • Oversee product testing and validation processes, ensuring project deliverables meet performance and quality standards.
  • Work with quality assurance and testing teams to identify areas of improvement and implement necessary changes.
  1. Risk Management and Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and adjust project plans as needed to address technical risks.
  • Contribute to process improvements, sharing lessons learned to improve future project efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field)
  • Experience: 3-5 years in project engineering within the defense or aerospace industry is a plus.
  • Certifications: CAPM or PMP a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical knowledge across engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with defense industry standards and regulations, including DoD, ITAR, and export controls.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
