Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician with expertise in performing refractions to join our dynamic team. As a Refraction Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists and optometrists in assessing patients' visual acuity and determining their corrective lens prescriptions. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough pre-examination tests, accurately performing refractions, and providing exceptional patient care throughout the process.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive pre-examination tests, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and assessing ocular health.
2. Efficiently perform subjective and objective refractions using state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring accuracy and precision in determining patients' refractive errors.
3. Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists and optometrists to obtain necessary patient information and assist in the development of treatment plans.
4. Educate patients on various lens options, including glasses and contact lenses, and provide guidance on proper eye care practices.
5. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting findings, test results, and treatment plans in compliance with regulatory standards.
6. Assist in the maintenance and calibration of diagnostic equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and reliability.
7. Uphold strict standards of patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
8. Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay abreast of advancements in ophthalmic technology and best practices.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; certification as an Ophthalmic Technician preferred.
2. Proven experience in performing refractions and conducting pre-examination tests in a clinical setting.
3. Proficiency in using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, such as autorefractors, phoropters, and tonometers.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers.
5. Detail-oriented mindset with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
6. Commitment to providing compassionate patient care and ensuring a positive patient experience.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
8. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred.

Additional Details:

Location: Sarasota, FL (34232)

Pay: $20/hr-$26/hr (Dependent on background and Years of experience)

Hours: Monday - Friday; Normal Business Hours (Onsite 5 Days a Week)

Duration: ~6 month Contract to Hire (~1,040 hours) - contracted probationary period into direct hire/permanent position

Requirements: Previous Ophthalmology/Retina Experience; Experience performing refractions
