PRIMARY FUNCTION

· Self-motivated individual responsible for ensuring Automated systems and PLC’s and SCADA systems are working properly and effectively. Successful candidates will possess the ability to provide preventative and corrective maintenance work scopes for all robotic and automated systems and will ensure the proper maintenance and upkeep of all automated equipment and server racks throughout the plant. Successful candidates will be able to effectively communicate with plant management team and keep Plant director updated on all matters associated with Automated systems. Must be able to work in a team setting and isolated settings.


DUTIES:

  • Create, develop and document Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs for industrial control systems.
  • Create and read logic flow diagrams for implementing program design, program execution, simulation and testing, acceptance, and start-up.
  • Program Human Machine Interface (HMI) Graphic Screens for industrial projects
  • Provide technical support, problem solving, modifications, and continuous improvement for automated control systems.
  • Support multiple communications media and protocol such as Wired, Wireless, Ethernet, CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP
  • Develop and Support computer hardware purchases and configurations to aide in program input and execution
  • Oversees performance of programming functions for SCADA systems and various PLC platforms.
  • Monitors robotics room and adjusts as required for robotic arm.
  • Makes recommendations for upgrades and/ or installation of necessary components for automation and integration systems.
  • Supervises installation or upgrades of necessary components for automation and integration systems.
  • Reports progress of installation or programming processes for automation or integration of various SCADA or PLC systems to Plant Management.
  • Installs microprocessor-based equipment and apparatus. Ascertains programs and installs or oversees installation of such items as programmable logic controllers, process computers, level detection systems, programmable message centers, personal computers, and printers.
  • Programs as required to maintain feeder lines from service connection to main panel boards, and from panel boards to equipment. Checks circuits for continuity and electrical for proper output, sequencing, timing, phasing, and other details for correct operation. Works on and checks out single and poly-phase circuits and equipment.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots on all types of plant automation and instrument systems and equipment, determines repair or replacement requirements and the best method of restoring interrupted service.
  • Makes periodic or special inspections of automation and instrument equipment to determine servicing and preventive maintenance required.
  • May build special purpose automation and instrument control equipment and units as required.
  • May direct other personnel specifically assigned by supervision to assist on a particular repair job such as pulling heavy equipment. May work alone or direct activities of other automation/instrument maintenance personnel assigned to assist on major repair or installation projects.
  • Performs area safety inspections before any work commences and as needed throughout the work day.
  • Integrates various PLC or VFD systems for PCS center or other systems throughout the plant.
  • Performs other related work inherent to the job as required.


Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field required
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in the electrical or process control environment.
  • Preferable cement process knowledge
  • Proven experience in PLC Logic and programming, as well as in HMI systems and related hardware/software
  • Exposure to Allen Bradly and Siemens PLC knowledge is preferred
  • Competency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and P&ID drawings
  • Positive attitude and willing to work toward team goals
  • Candidate is to be motivated, self-driven, well organized, and detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as a team player
  • The candidate is to have good inter-personal communication, verbal and written skills (English Language)
  • MSHA Safety certification is preferred but not required. Training will be provided if necessary.
