TITLE: Senior Embedded Software Developer

REPORTS TO: VP of Digital Solutions

LOCATION: Springfield, Illinois

DEPARTMENT: Digital Solutions

FLSA CLASS: Exempt


Job Summary: This position is responsible for the design, development, test, on-going maintenance and documentation of embedded software associated with the development of BUNN’s state of the art beverage dispensing manufacturing equipment. Product development may include management of projects form initial concept through implementation in production and beyond. Must be able to work with or lead cross-functional “core teams” throughout the software development process and work with all customer channels and all levels of company employees. Ability to lead a group of other software engineers as part of a project execution is a plus.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for the design integrity and reliability of product software that you are responsible for.
  • Manage and quickly resolve software related product issues, questions or challenges to the manufacturing process on an on-going basis.
  • Help identify and improve operations and best practices by recommending changes in software development policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by continuing reviewing state of the art development tools, programming techniques, and embedded computer hardware.
  • Collaborate effectively with others to achieve superior results.
  • Participate in lifecycle maintenance and management of software.
  • Maintain accurate records by documenting software development and enforcing revision controls.
  • Provide active input for technology and innovation opportunities.
  • Understand Agile based software development process
  • Communicate within the team and leadership regarding project status and risks to timelines.
  • Confirm and establish project requirements by reviewing program objectives.
  • Work closely with “core teams” during new project inception period to ensure successful product launch.
  • Confirm all software operation and program code by conducting designated design reviews and perform validation/qualification testing.


Specific Skills:

  • Embedded C/C++, Object Oriented Programming, Linux, Low level drivers, Real-Time Operating Systems, using oscilloscopes, sniffers and other tools for debugging,
  • Understanding hardware design and schematics is a plus
  • Qt/QML development skills is a plus
