Summary Description:

It is a small, focused technology company in the Boston/South Shore area that specializes in the development and manufacturing of diffraction gratings for laser applications using thin-film coating, photolithography, chemical processing, and optical metrology. Seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated mechanical designer to support the Company’s engineering and manufacturing. The designer will be responsible for creating original drawings, developing tools and handling equipment for the Company’s products, and documenting all work.

Expected Outcomes:

• Complete mechanical designs and drawings in a timely fashion with low supervision

• Communicate effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales team members

General Qualifications:

• Expert knowledge with 3D CAD platforms – especially SOLIDWORKS®

• Working knowledge of mechanical parts and assemblies as well as fabrication processes

• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

• Familiarity with revisions, document control, and drawing release processes

• Experience with 3D printing, design of large, heavy-load assemblies, and design of vacuum systems are all desirable but not absolutely necessary

• Computer literacy, including ability to use MS Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Experience and Education:

• At least 2 years of directly relevant work experience

• Education: minimum of high-school diploma; 2-year/associates degree or other relevant formal training is highly desired
