We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Principal Bus Specialist-Infrastructure in our Pewaukee, Wisconsin location.

Job Summary

The Principal Business Specialist - Infrastructure is responsible for Electric System Operations total infrastructure needs including all aspects of information technology, facilities, security, and telecom support and maintenance and development of all related systems and processes. The infrastructure needs apply not only to Electric System Operations primary operation location, but also to an alternate site location. The Principal Business Specialist –Infrastructure is responsible for the definition, prioritization, coordination and completion of all Electric System Operations infrastructure requests and needs. The Principal Business Specialist – Infrastructure works with corporate ITS, vendors, along with facilities, security and telecom to direct and coordinate completion of projects. The Principal Business Specialist – Infrastructure responds to the immediate infrastructure needs of the Department as well as coordinates application roll-outs, manages infrastructure changes at the corporate level from a Departmental perspective, maintains a relationship and works through issues with the corporate IT Service Desk, maintains the Business Unit’s asset records, and manages access to various departmental applications. 

The Principal Business Specialist is an expert level position requiring strong technical and project leadership skills to accomplish complex tasks and large projects. The Principal Business Specialist - Infrastructure is highly self-directed with a solid understanding of business processes and requirements. The Principal Business Specialist – Infrastructure must be committed to continued process improvement within the Department – identifying and evaluating target areas, prioritizing projects and implementation. The Principal Business Specialist – Infrastructure is required to be on call as necessary.
 

Job Responsibilities

•    Serve as primary contact for the Department to raise IT related issues.
•    Maintain a close working relationship with IT departments, facilities and telecom.
•    Evaluate the impact of corporate infrastructure changes on applications/equipment used by the Department. 
•    Work with Departmental customers and various corporate service organizations to troubleshoot technical issues.
•    Maintain the Department Business Continuity Plan and Infrastructure Assets.
•    Coordinate access to various departmental applications.
•    Coordinate and perform testing of new software through the UAT process.
•    Facilitate the delivery of software products to Department personnel. 
•    Develop/present solutions to improve workflow within the Department.
•    Manage vendor contracts and resources.
•    Assist in budgeting process for Infrastructure expenditures. 
•    Perform all project management and leadership functions on infrastructure related projects including gathering business unit requirements, establishing project scope, business case and work plans, managing contract resources as required, training and team development. 
•    Individual may be required to work during non-traditional business hours due to system problems and/or scheduled infrastructure changes.
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Engineering, or Business related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years in information technology, engineering or related technical area including experience in an occupation requiring project leadership with a wide range of experiences.
  • Understanding of computer hardware and software terminology and functionality.
  • Knowledge of WEC’s internal structure as it pertains to IT, Facilities and Telecom.
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and ambiguous environment 
  • Experience dealing with a variety of technical disciplines – engineering, IT, and Finance.
  • Candidates should have a high proficiency developing, documenting and presenting project specifications and justifications with ability to negotiate contracts.
     
Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of WEC’s internal structure as it pertains to IT, Facilities and Telecom.
  • To excel at the diverse challenges associated with this position, the candidate must be an energetic self-starter who possesses strong problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Project management experience 
  • Candidates with a working knowledge of NERC Compliance are preferred.
