Our client is a leader in environmental services and engineering solutions, dedicated to ensuring sustainable water management and environmental compliance. They are currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Stormwater Compliance Engineer to join our growing team in Irvine, CA.

Position Summary:
As the Principal Stormwater Compliance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in leading and overseeing stormwater compliance projects, ensuring our clients meet regulatory requirements while promoting sustainable water management practices. You will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to apply their technical expertise in stormwater management, environmental law, and compliance to deliver impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage stormwater compliance projects, including monitoring and ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement stormwater management plans, best practices, and compliance strategies for clients across various sectors, including commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to internal teams, clients, and regulatory bodies regarding stormwater management, including design, construction, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Conduct site assessments and audits to evaluate stormwater systems and identify compliance risks.
  • Prepare and submit reports, permits, and compliance documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Stay current with evolving stormwater regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and staff on stormwater management and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring effective communication and project delivery.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in stormwater management, environmental engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • In-depth knowledge of stormwater compliance regulations, including Clean Water Act, NPDES permits, and local municipal requirements.
  • Experience with stormwater management software and modeling tools.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of successful stormwater compliance and management projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
