Job Title: Vice Provost, School of E-Learning

Location: Dallas, TX

Reports to: Provost & Vice Chancellor of Workforce Education


The Vice Provost serves in a senior-level capacity supporting and underpinning the faculty role. Responsible for helping shape the academic enterprise through strategic, digital, operational, and technical improvements.

Responsibilities:


  • Established as a leader in online education.
  • Develop partnerships with the community and industry to facilitate online workforce development in collaboration with the Vice Chancellor of Workforce and Advancement.
  • Support faculty in offering competitive distance education programs, providing professionalized staff to assist in areas like instructional design and media development.
  • Work closely with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to offer training and certification for faculty to develop and teach high-quality online courses.
  • Collaborate with the Information Technology team to ensure competitive technology resources are in place to ensure a seamless experience for students.
  • Collaborate with each of the Vice Provost teams to grow the e-learning offering in line with demand from distance learners.
  • Work with Enrollment Management to ensure ease of recruitment and onboarding.
  • Provide central support for online course development (e.g., instructional design, media development, quality control).
  • Collaborate with Student Success and Student Support Services to provide a breadth of offerings to online students, as well as work with those teams to create and develop new offerings that would help students enrolled in distance courses to succeed.
  • Provide classroom-level academic support for students, collaborating with the Academic Services team to ensure that students enrolled in distance courses have access to the academic resources they need.
  • Works closely with the Academic Incubator team on new learning innovations, instructional methods, and program development opportunities.
  • Works closely with the Provost and Academic Vice Provosts on crafting and executing the vision, strategic direction, goals, and KPIs for the academic enterprise—one that is aligned with the College’s strategic goals.
  • In close collaboration with Human Resources and academic leaders, provides senior-level oversight for the college’s annual faculty recruitment, onboarding, faculty evaluation, annual contract renewal process, adjunct recruitment, and essential faculty return week activities.
  • Manages a team of creative media professionals responsible for articulating the college’s academic vision and strategic direction through custom digital and media solutions.
  • Leads and facilitates initiatives that are critical of the Office of the Provost.
  • In conjunction with legal counsel and the Office of Provost, ensure appropriate oversight of all legal, human resource, procurement, and academic governance matters pertaining to Academic partnerships, engagements, and contracted services.
  • Completes required Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


  • An earned doctorate for an accredited institution in a relevant field as confirmed by official transcripts.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible teaching, administrative and/or educational leadership experience.
  • Five (5) years upper level administrative/supervisory experience in a community college/higher education environment.
  • A distinguished record of academic leadership and experience in higher education administration.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, academic operations, and/or program development.
  • Strong analytical skills in managing complex data systems that help streamline complex processes, procedures, or help manage complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • An innovative and visionary thinker with a commitment to student success and academic excellence.
  • Experience with a large comprehensive community college system with a depth of knowledge of faculty, their job requirements, and their critical role in the academic enterprise.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Preferred experience in leading a team of creative professionals skilled in delivering timely digital, print, and media solutions within an academic environment.
