Position Overview: Raider Technologies seeks a talented Lead RF FPGA Design / Firmware Engineer passionate about radar technology. In this role, you will lead the development and integration of advanced signal processing algorithms into custom RF board designs for radar systems. Collaborate with algorithm and hardware specialists to optimize radar processing chains and ensure seamless firmware integration with RF components. You will own FPGA firmware design and implementation, driving innovation in multi-mode operations, beamforming, Doppler processing, and environmental resilience. This position requires initiative, independent problem-solving, and a focus on team success.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Digital Design and Firmware Development: Design FPGA firmware for scalable RF front-end/back-end architectures.

System Integration: Work closely with radar software and mechanical engineering teams to integrate FPGA designs.

Requirements Development: Translate high-level product goals into refined system and sub-system requirements.

Testing and Verification: Develop and execute design verification test plans for all system levels.

Advanced Design Contributions: Innovate radar transceiver architectures, signal processing chains, and protocols.

Technical Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation for designs, tests, and integration processes.

Collaboration: Share knowledge across teams and stay updated on FPGA and radar system advancements.

 

Minimum Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

·        5+ years’ experience with FPGA development and verification (3+ years with a Master’s degree).

·        Proficiency in VHDL and Verilog for FPGA development.

·        Familiarity with FPGA toolchains such as Vivado, ISE, Quartus, and ModelSim.

·        Hands-on experience optimizing FPGA timing, resource use, and implementing advanced digital signal processing architectures.

·        Ability to work from high-level requirements to create robust, documented designs.

·        Solid written and oral communication skills.

·        Self-motivated, proactive learner who takes initiative to solve complex problems.

·        Strong team player focused on group success.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Radar signal processing architecture and FPGA-based RF/microwave system design experience.

·        Knowledge of protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, UDP).

·        Hands-on radar system integration, testing, and verification.

·        Familiarity with radar transmit/receive line-ups

·        Experience with RF tools (oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers).

·        Knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, and RF simulation platforms (ADS, Microwave Office).

·        Background in DoD/aerospace embedded systems or U.S. Air Force projects.

·        Familiarity with air traffic control or related radar systems is a plus.
