NeilMed Pharmaceuticals Inc., established in 2000, is headquartered in Santa Rosa, California with offices worldwide. NeilMed’s branded products are Over the Counter (OTC) consumer goods sold extensively within the US and Canada through pharmacies, various retailers (big box, grocery, discounters, etc.) and on-line, as well as in 30+ countries in thousands of retail pharmacies. All products are manufactured within three US locations and exported various warehouses, distributors, and customers worldwide.

NeilMed has in-house manufacturing and produces several million units per year in four plants located in Santa Rosa, CA, City of Ontario, CA, Muskegon, MI, and South Plainfield, NJ. Products are exported from these US locations to various warehouses, distributors and customers worldwide. Neilmed believes in domestic manufacturing as much as possible and strives to provide excellent quality products at the best possible price for consumers. Some of our large accounts include Costco, Amazon, Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreen's, Kroger and Albertsons, etc., as well as large US distributors such as McKesson, Amerisource Bergen and Cardinal. In addition, NeilMed has over 18 locations worldwide, each with its own warehouses and staffing. 

NeilMed’s global distribution requires its products to be manufactured in multiple languages. Our facilities manufacture dry powder and liquid products and assemble medical devices. There are approximately two hundred employees working in the production of both sterile and nonsterile products. Manufacturing operates three shifts five days a week with Saturday and Sunday shifts during periods of heavy demand. Manufacturing production staff speak English and Spanish, and other foreign languages. NeilMed continues to invest in automatic manufacturing equipment to improve efficiency and prepare for growth without substantial increases in manpower. There are close to one million cases manufactured and labeled for the shipments each year in a clean, safe manufacturing facility owned by the Company.

Summary of Responsibilities:

NeilMed is currently seeking an extremely dynamic and experienced Head of Manufacturing to be based in our Santa Rosa, CA location. The Head of Manufacturing will report directly to the CEO or his assignee, and will be supported by the Director of Engineering, the Director of Quality and Regulatory, as well as HR.  

NeilMed facility is an ISO 13485, CE Mark as well as FDA certified over-the-counter drug, and class 1 device manufacturing facility. Experience in similar production environments is required. The Santa Rosa location currently has four facilities amounting to 270k total square feet. In addition, a new facility of over 100k square feet is under construction and will open in the fall of 2025.  The non-Santa Rosa facilities are about 260,000 Sq. feet. There are over 450 different SKUs manufactured in this plant.

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

The candidate must have experience working closely with a quality/production team as NeilMed manufactures and assembles finished goods and ships final products from our Santa Rosa plant (as well as our other plants located in Ontario, CA, Muskegon, MI, and South Plainfield, NJ.)

The candidate must have proven experience leading a large manufacturing plant with automation and coordinating the manufacturing processes including liquid filling, dry powder filling, tube filling, suppositories and canister fillings. The Head of Manufacturing must understand all aspects of the manufacturing processes and be able to provide a weekly or bi-weekly report for the unit productions, efficiency, production planning, etc. Knowledge of Spanish is a big plus however it is not required. You will manage a team of approximately 200 employees. The Head of Manufacturing will be required to manage production of consumer product goods in various languages including Spanish, British English, French, German, Chinese, Arabic as well as several other languages.

The ideal candidate must have sufficient knowledge of mechanical equipment, OSHA certification, and preferably six Sigma training. It is necessary to possess a high level of stamina to manage multiple production lines and shifts to ensure consistent improvement implementation. The candidate must be extremely disciplined and hard-working to ensure proper production planning and maintain zero out-of-stock inventory goals.

In addition to the Santa Rosa facility, this individual will coordinate with NeilMed’s other manufacturing facilities in Ontario, California and South Plain, New Jersey with the possible opportunity to travel to Europe and Asia for machinery procurement and training.

The work schedule for this role begins at 5:15am and continues through to the evening till 430 or 5PM, with an average of 10-hours of work per day. At present the plant runs Saturdays and sometimes Sundays The job requires one Saturday per month to attend the leadership team meeting which has been the practice at NeilMed for over two decades or to catch up the work or bring more innovations.

 

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred

Equivalent work experience acceptable

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 7 years of experience leading a manufacturing operation

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

·        Experience in leading a team of several hundred manufacturing staff.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and a good knowledge in Excel is expected.

·        NeilMed has customized software to automatically schedule production work orders, issue purchase orders and report deficits of raw materials and low finished goods inventory. NeilMed has always maintained a well-stocked raw materials inventory to benefit production and to reduce any hassles related to supply chain issues.

·        Extremely strong written and oral English skills

·        Highly organized with a strong attention to detail. 


BENEFITS

The candidate will be provided with a relocation package to California if not based locally, and housing support for the first 2 months. NeilMed offers choices of two health plans, Dental, and Vision Coverage, 401K plans with company contribution of 4%, and Life Insurance. Three weeks of Vacation, 6 paid Holidays and Sick Leave per California employment laws are all included in the first full year of employment. The salary can be negotiated and will be $175,000 and more plus there will be a performance bonus.
